Welcome to District Institute of Education & Training, Tura

About DIET

DIET, a novel scheme to strengthen in-service education at primary level, has been suggested by NPE, 1986. One of its main thrusts is to improve and enrich the academic equipment of elementary school teachers, non-formal and adult education functionaries and other personnel down the lowest, but important level of our Educational system. It organizes different kinds of INSET programmes with the help of various branches and in co-ordination with various agencies at state and national levels.

Vision Statement

"The vision of DIET Tura is to transform itself into Resource Centre of excellence in the district and to provide support to schools through teacher training, development and extension".

Organizational Structure of DIET

As one of the measures taken for bringing about qualitative improvement of elementary education in general and teacher education in particular, NPE (1986) envisaged the establishment of DIET, a district level teacher education institution each in all districts of the country. Consequently, the year 1988 witnessed the establishment of DIETs with the main function entrusted upon them to provide both pre-service and in-service teacher education.
